Mußbacher Eselshaut

Startseite 9 Mußbacher Eselshaut

Mußbacher Eselshaut

The Mußbacher Eselshaut is the largest and the best known Mußbacher site. It covers 293 hectares and is continuously flat. In the Eselshaut, not only the Riesling profits from the nutrient-rich Mußbacher soils, but also our Burgundy and Sauvignon blanc in particular.

Not only good Rieslings, but also finest Auxerrois, Burgundy or Sauvignon Blanc grow up here. The name “Eselshaut” incidentally comes from the word “donkey keep“. Donkeys were kept here in the past. The Eselshaut has heavy soils, which are dominated by clay, sandy loam and loess. These wines ripen particularly well in hot, dry years.
